"R'tzei" is a Jewish prayer (one of our oldest!) that expresses the hope that our prayers be worthy of being heard by God. "R'tzei" comes from "The First Album," Beged Kefet's debut album (1987). Beged Kefet (1982-2009) was comprised of: Rabbi Les Bronstein, Rabbi Billy Dreskin, Cantor Ellen Dreskin, Cantor Riki Lippitz, Cantor Benjie Ellen Schiller, Beth Sher, and Cantor Leon Sher. As you will hear, we worked hard to produce tight harmonies. And this was before you could tune things up afterward. Audio verite, you might say!

R'-tzei A-do-nai E-lo-hei-nu b'-am-kha Yis-ra-el. R'-tzei A-do-nai E-lo-hei-nu b'-am-kha Yis-ra-el. Oot'-fee-la-tam b'-a-ha-vah t'-ka-bel. Oot'-hee l'-ra-tzon ta-meed a-vo-dat Yis-ra-el a-vo-dat Yis-ra-el a-me-kha. Eil ka-rov l'-khol kor-av p'-nei el a-va-de-kha v'-kho-nei-nu. Sh'-fokh ru-kha-kha a-lei-nu. V'-te-khe-zei-na ei-ne-nu b'-shuv-kha l'-tzi-yon b'-shuv-kha l'-tzi-yon b'-ra-kha-mim. Ba-rukh A-tah A-do-nai ha-kha-ma-zir sh'-khi-na-to sh'-khi-na-to l'-tzi-yon.

Translation: Be gracious, Eternal God, to Your people Israel, and receive our prayers with love. May our worship always be acceptable to You. Fill us with the knowledge that You are near to all who seek You in truth. Let our eyes behold Your Presence in our midst and in the midst of our people in Zion. We praise You, O God, whose Presence gives life to Zion, to Israel, and to all humankind.
