Or Zarua

by Billy Dreskin

/

about

This text comes from the Book of Psalms 97:11-12. It teaches, “Light is sown for the righteous, radiance for the upright. The deeds of the righteous celebrate God. Every kindness radiates holiness.” Its basic message is: The universe wants each of us to bring goodness into the world.
Billy wrote this song for Beged Kefet in 1982 but he didn’t finish it until 2022, forty years later! Recording it with Cantor Ellen Dreskin and The Levins (Ira and Julia) was sheer delight.
